Last night, Joe came over to drop off Vanna (apparently, she was a real terror last night and wouldn’t let him sleep. Good times), and we headed out to Red Robin to get dinner with our friend Robin!

I got the Apple Harvest Salad with the dressing on the side. This WOULD be healthy, except I ended up eating the entire thing WITH all the dressing AND helped out Joe with his garlic fries.

Bottomless steak fries… with such wonderful sauces… addicting.

I ate an orange as soon as we came back to my place because having your mouth coated with sauce and grease doesn’t feel as nice as it sounds.

Fast forward to this morning and WHOA! With all the food I ate at the baby shower and last night, I was super bloated and puffy. That just means I was supercharged for a run!

I checked the weather and it said that the rain wouldn’t come until around 11:00 a.m. so I laced up my sneakers and headed out!

My plan? Just run super easy pace and listen to K-LOVE. Praising God while running is becoming one of my favorite weekly activities! It’s kind of weird because there are always songs where I have to hold back tears (I think the endorphins or adrenaline or whatever makes me more sensitive). I just end up looking like I’m painfully constipated.

I decided not to look at my Garmin at all until the end. I did an out-and-backish route and when I got back to the car, it was at 8.5 miles, so I just tacked on an extra 0.5 miles around the block. The course was a slight decline for the first half and a slight incline on the way back.

Here’s what it looked like (8:29 pace)

AWESOME. I think this was a GREAT easy run, and I felt like a million bucks when I got back. The weather was in the 40’s so that big sweatshirt (that belongs to Joe) was perfect!

I actually took the advice of many articles and running bloggers and made my easy run EASY. Haha, weird to think that some people can’t help but run a HARD easy run.

When I got back home, I unlaced my shoelaces and got some recovery fluids. Okay, I know it’s kind of obvious, but if you have nice running shoes, you should lace and unlace your shoes every time you go out. I used to just stick it in and stretch out that heel area… and the Road Runner Sports guy said if I want to keep it in top condition, I should unlace them.

Gosh. Now it takes me 45 seconds longer just to take my running shoes off. I guess it’s worth it if I can keep those shoes in peak condition for as long as possible.

So Joe was awesome and bought me this glutamine:

I was actually thinking of buying a tiny one (like 1000mg or less?) for like 20 bucks, but Joe said he could find a better deal and told me to wait. Well it’s a good thing I did because this 5000 mg tub of glutamine was $20!! Thanks, mister!

I put a tsp of it in milk, and I guess I need to mix it better? There were little crystals at the bottom of it. BUT, it’s truly flavorless, so no problems with the taste or anything.

What is glutamine for?

Like it says at the bottom, I plan on adding this to my weight-gainer shake of choice (chocolate milk) when Lent is done. I’ll have it after a hard workout or my long runs. It only takes one teaspoon, so it should last me at least one year.

I’s gonna beast, mang.<— I don’t actually talk like that… well, not all the time.

Church was wonderful! We had a new youth pastor and it was fun getting to know him!  After service, Addie had something for me…

Yup. There are only four more of them left! They are full of raisins, dried cranberries, peanuts, oats, honey, and shredded coconut. It was seriously divine (haha I don’t know if it’s because I have been dessert-less for 28 days, but they were seriously good. I didn’t want to share with anyone!).

Thank you so much, Addie! I really enjoyed it (as well as some other people who kept staring at it… I was kind enough to give them a tiny piece… like one peanut-sized bite). I can have this for breakfast with a banana and cup of coffee 🙂

And I won’t share any more of the ones I have left, hehe. She can seriously package 5 bars and sell them for $4.99 at the store. They taste way better than the commercialized ones (coughnaturevalleycoughcough)!

I’ll be heading up to Oakland KUMC with Michael today! There is a joint retreat meeting for the counselors. I’m so excited to see everyone again.

How was your weekend?

  1. You’re very welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed the granola bars. PJ came and asked me for some, but alas, sadly he can’t have any because unlike you and me, he’s on a no SUGAR commitment like Jane & Steve. But I still gave him some, just in case I was wrong. It is made mostly with honey. Could that be considered as sugar?
