Back to the Routine

Last night was Esther’s birthday celebration! We went to Almaden Sushi, her favorite sushi spot.

The decor was pretty modern and the servers were really nice. Their menu offered some items that were different from what we’re used to. I got the tuna salad (with the wasabi mayo dressing on the side). It was good, but wouldn’t have been filling on its own.

Good thing there were plenty of rolls to eat:

Josh kindly shared some of his sashimi, too. Thanks!

But dang. I had passed that hunger threshold where I can usually beast. I couldn’t stomach much food (stomach shrank?). Don’t worry. I can stretch it back out to normal pretty quickly ๐Ÿ˜‰

We picked up a tiramisu and some ice cream and headed back to their home. We sang “happy birthday” and got to chowin’ down!

Being that I was still full, I shared this plate with Joe. Know what’s crazy? It was all too sweet for me! I don’t know if it’s because I gave up dessert for Lent, but I couldn’t really eat much of it. I’m sure some black coffee or a glass of milk might have helped.

(o___O )ย  Or could it be that my taste buds have changed and become more sensitive to sweets???

Nahh. I was probably just having an off night ๐Ÿ˜›

This morning, I felt like eating a waffle.

That Nature’s Path box of waffles was $1.99 (with a dollar-off coupon). I spread peanut butter and pumpkin butter on it, sprinkled it with chia seeds, and ate it with a banana and coffee.

I burnt it only a little. My verdict on this organic, flax plusย waffle? It tastes too healthy. It’s just not as good as the other not-so-healthy ones (DUH). But it was still fine… maybe it will be better if I don’t burn it, haha.

Did my daily devo through this site. If you’re looking for material, this is a great one! My church is using it for their daily quiet times. It has short passages each day, some blurbs to talk about the passages, and an application part at the end.

Day three of reading The Hunger Games. I’ll be done with it later today.

My work asked if I could create some art for the clinic to put on their walls, so I might get started on something today.

As far as working out, I am thinking of going to the gym with Michael soon OR taking a Cycle class after work. We’ll see how things go.

BTW, my lunch was BOMB.

Haha, yeah. that is a gallon-sized tub of salad (all gone within ten minutes). It’s mixed greens, soba noodles, asparagus, an egg, about 1/3 cup dry roasted almonds, 2 tsp sesame oil, and about 2 tbsp Asian dressing. OMG, SO GOOD.

Looks like a boring day to be had, but… I kind of love it. Having a good routine makes it easier for me to eat right and get things done.

  1. While your posts are always awesome and fun to read, I felt compelled to comment because that sushi looks so good!

I need to talk Lisa into grabbing some sushi again soon. She doesn’t like fish much, though, so sushi’s not her favorite thing. She ends up with veggie rolls each time. Ha.

    • Thanks!
You’re so funny! I love that you felt compelled to comment about the sushi! This place had really interesting rolls and honestly… they were ALL stinkin’ delicious.
I definitely love sushi in any form and it’s fun to go with a few people so you can try a little bit of each roll. ๐Ÿ™‚
