Last Minute Prep

Alrighty. My bag is all packed. It’s all sundresses and short shorts (3 inches above the knee, GASP) in there.

Good thing I got a pretty good workout in last night.

Yesterday’s workout:

Elliptical: Done at home for 60 minutes while watching TV shows on Hulu. I jacked it up to level 4 (which is pretty tough on my machine) and also pedaled backwards for about 1/3 of the time.

Upper Body: I just hit my upper body from every angle (while continuing to watch TV shows. Yes. I have a problem). I did them all back-to-back-to-back and continued until I went through six moves, around 16 reps each. Then I did a second set of them.

(I went from working the back to chest to shoulders to biceps to triceps to shoulders, rest, repeat… tralala. This is because the back and biceps work together, and chest and triceps go together… so I try to split up those exercises… so I can keep going without rest. Dot dot dot <—I always do so many of these…)

Then I got a little crazy and did my shoulder burnouts. Dang 3’s. I had to keep taking little breaks to get to my 20 reps.

Why do I love working my shoulders? Because it creates the illusion of a smaller waist. It helps if you also have thunder thighs. 😉

What’s a good workout worth if you don’t have good recovery protein afterwards?

So I made a protein shake for myself (simply water, ice, and protein powder) and felt awesomes. It was like 10:00pm when I had it, too.

Did you know that Hilary Swank had to drink protein shakes basically ALL DAY to get this muscular? I heard she had it right before going to bed AND even had to wake up in the middle of the night to have some, too.

Could be rumors, but I believe it. It’s actually pretty hard for girls to get super buff (hah… unless you eat as much as I do. Then it’s a cinch). You not only have to lift heavy, but you have to be eating and drinking some form of protein all day long. What I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t be scared to lift.

I know I’m not. You know I’m not.

Girls, don’t be mushy and frail. Stand up tall and be strong, dangit! You’ll thank me later when you fall over at the age of 90 and you DON’T break a hip because you’ve been strong and healthy since RIGHT NOW.

Anyways, we are leaving soon. I fit in a super quick AbRipperX video this morning (16 minutes long). It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing. I get antsy on the plane, so I figured doing something like that would help. (I also secretly hope that one ab workout will miraculously give me some swit abs when we land).

Hey! I’ll be bringing my Scripture-writing binder (remember my lifetime goal of handwriting the entire Bible? Yup. Still doin’ it). Do your SWIM QT, okay? I’ll be doing it while on vacation! So just spare 10-15 minutes of your day to study the Word!

I’m also bringing several kinds of sunblock. No medium-rare shoulders or thighs for me, thanks.

I’ve decided not bring any long jeans. I just looked at the forecast and the lows are in the 60’s. Say whaaaaat? It’s gonna be HUMID THOUGH.

I have packed my trusty Garmin in case I go for an early morning run or we go hiking. Or just traveling on foot.

  1. Oo haha i totally think girls shouldn’t be afraid of weights or getting buff! I don’t lift weights–i prefer to use my body weight when i do strengthening exercises (i do pull ups and stuff like that)–but i really wanna start running with those 1 or 2 pound wrist and ankle weights. 🙂

    Have a FABULOUS time in hawaii girl! 😀 and wow your handwriting the entire Bible? that’s so cool! 😀 how far have you gotten?
