I was supposed to exercise yesterday. Instead, I was laying around at Joe’s, took a nap, and woke up to find all this good food that Josh spend a lot of time preparing.
HOMEMADE LASAGNA, SAY WHAAAA?
I got an edge piece because I’m awesome. I also got a huge mound of salad, and ate two of those wonderful garlic breads during the meal.
OMG, so good! I can probably eat like that everyday.
We were not done yet, friends. Joe took out all his macadamia nut purchases from Hawaii, held them hostage all day until we could finally open the bags and have at it after dinner. Esther also cut up some extremely sweet watermelon, and the night was complete!
I’m so happy about watermelon season. I bet you didn’t know I like to just cut it in half and eat the whole thing with a big spoon. Yeah. I’m beastly like that 😉
I have some catching up to do with my Scripture-writing! I DID do some while in Hawai’i, but failed to keep it going once we got back (since were traveling all day on Monday… and I decided to BLOB around all day Tuesday).
No more blob today. I went to the gym with Michael, and while he was shooting around, I did a bunch of cardio and a short leg workout!
Treadmill: warmup, 2.0 miles in 15:15. Sweaty already.
Stairs: 1.35 mile in 10 minutes. Umm, I don’t know why, but I was super nauseous and lightheaded near the end of this! I stepped off and walked around in circles, breathing heavily, looking pretty wiped out.
Then I felt fine, and I wanted to hit legs HARD today, but the squat area was being used, so I hit the treadmill again for 1.0 mile, 7:59. Then the squat rack opened up and I swooped in!
Squats: 115 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets. I decided to keep it simple and not go all crazy heavy today. Plus, I was feeling up-chucky again.
Romanian Deadlift: 95 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets. Swit. Huffing and puffing, sweating like a beast.
Lunges: 20# dumbbells used for all– Side lunges, 12 reps each side; Front lunges, 12 reps each side; Back lunges, 12 reps each side.
I didn’t see Michael yet, so I went to the cycle room and hopped on the spin bike for 7 minutes. OMG, my legs were shredded at this point and I had a hard time pedaling at a quick cadence (with the music in the gym). So, I just pedaled slowly and felt super good about finally getting in a leg workout.
I looked up reasons for my nausea and lightheadedness and this site explains that when you haven’t eaten for a long time and perform any anaerobic exercises like ” faster running, swimming, high repetition calisthenics or weight lifting you will hit a wall and feel completely drained.”
It makes sense because I ate a Clifbar for breakfast and Michael didn’t wake up until pretty late, and we got to the gym about 3 hours after that small breakfast. So I pretty much got owned. Whoops!
I’ll be sure to have a small snack next time if my breakfast is long before my intense workout. I would have loved to do more on the stairs, but it probably would have ruined my day if I passed out and hit my head on the bar. Probably.
Dropped my phone in the pool. Good thing it was my super cheap go-phone (the one that couldn’t even take pictures). I think I can get an actual phone now (but no smartphones for me. I refuse).
I have school tonight and hiking in the morning! It’s going to be a great week back home 😀
