Back to Insanity

Last night, after my second-to-last final, I decided to do an Insanity workout. I wanted to do one that wouldn’t be too crazy tough, and there was the 47 minute one (Max Cardio Endurance? something like that). HOLY MOLY. It was way tough! My butt and quads were burning and I was dripping sweat (I’m pretty sure very single Insanity workout does that, though).

Since my hamstrings were still sore from my crazy cardio session from two days ago, I added about 30 minutes of yoga while watching some stuff on Netflix. Though I wasn’t planning on it, I still got an excellent workout in at 9:00pm.

I don’t usually crave beef, but I felt like having some yesterday. I marinated it in random stuff (soy sauce, salt and pepper, onion powder, tiny bit of lemon juice, herbs… probably some other random crap I can’t remember). When I cooked it up, I added in some roughly chopped up leeks:

And I had some roasted carrots on the side and a baked potato ready in the oven.

HEARTY MEAL. I was so full (I obviously didn’t eat all the meat. I now have a good amount of leftovers for tonight). Since when have I eaten such heavy and filling meals? I dunno… more recently I guess. I’m trying to eat more protein these days. I think it’s really helping it making me super full.

This morning, I did my usual Building Up to Pull-ups phase 3.

Set 1: 2 chin-ups in a row, then 6 “walk-the-planks”

Set 2 to 4: 1 chin-up, pull-up, 6 “walk-the-planks”

Set 5: 2 chin-ups, 6 “walk-the-planks”.

Still can’t do two pull-ups in a row. Hmph.

This was followed by 4 sets of 15 push-ups <—- why I don’t see improvements here, I’ll never know.

Then my usual burnouts.

THEN… I decided to get insane again! I did the 54 minute Max Interval Sports training video. I think this is one of my favorites. It’s really tough, but it switches off enough with easier moves and then insanely difficult ones so you can keep going strong the whole time.

DIG DEEP!

There’s really no cool-down stretch better than after an Insanity video. Actually, what am I talking about… the ones after a really hard run or a long run are pretty flippin’ awesome. ANYWAYS, I’m liking doing these videos while it’s all rainy outside. I’m a wimp and don’t like running in the rain… or driving in it.

I think it’s okay. Good practice for doing more work with string. I like to mix it up… perhaps my next one will have paint, yarn, AND construction paper!!

Had lunch with Tati today!

^She may look slightly uncomfortable because she already took a couple of bites when I whipped out my camera, haha. Whoops.

Anywho, we had lunch at Market & Rye because we both felt like getting yummy salad.

I got the “Winter Cleanse” salad, which came with cranberries, quinoa, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, squash, kale, carrots, radish, and greens:

DELISH. Haven’t had a nice salad like that in a long time!

It has also been so long since we had a chance to catch up. She’s done with her first semester in grad school (smarty pants got straight A’s). Having good salad with a close friend is pretty much one of my favorite things to do 😉
