We were at church about 11 hours yesterday… but it certainly didn’t feel like that long!
We had our Sunday worship service first. The children’s message:
And a message from Pastor Justin:
(By the way, isn’t the sanctuary beautiful??)
Then after service, we had a simple lunch of Subway sandwiches and chips:
And then Chimi helped me make some stromboli (garbage bread). One was BBQ pulled pork and one was pepperoni and cheese:
Then we had our rehearsal and run through for the young adult production of A Christmas Carol:
It really was a full production. We had a sounds guy (my older brother Alex on the left) and a spotlight/special lights guy (Zack):
And another lights guy:
And our recording guy (Steven):
Afterwards, we all GRUBBED TO THE MAX.
See that thing at the top of the plate? That’s the BBQ pulled pork garbage bread. DELISH. I heard the pepperoni and cheese one was good, too.
Then we got our sweet tooth on:
OMG, all those homemade baked goods were amazing!
When everyone had their fill of food and desserts, they made their way to the toiletry-making tables and made bags full of toiletries for the homeless:
We had hundreds of bags made with tooth brushes and tooth paste, soaps, shampoos and conditioners, lotion, deodorants, etc. This is the season of giving and I love love love that we took this time to also think about those who are outside of the congregation. We shouldn’t be keeping the giving to just within the church walls, yeah?
Then it was time for the white elephant gift exchange. This year was also different in that people just got things from home that they could gift (if in newish condition) or regift… basically, not spending monies for it. That way, whatever money we would have used can be given as donation to people who need it more.
I got the last number… but ended up WINNING the whole thing because I got to have the last two gifts (even though someone stole my Godiva chocolate box)! Okay, and technically, I didn’t really win… but whatevers.
I’m going to be running today. It is sunny and low 50 degrees… pretty much the perfect conditions for an outdoor run!
BTW, last week’s running total was only 3.7 miles. o__O I haven’t gone under 20 miles per week in several months!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Eve!
(You can still enter to win the a hydration bottle that’s going to be stuffed with awesome goodies. I think I’ll let you know what is going to be in it tomorrow).
