I’m not actually very superstitious, but just in case, I decided to do what has worked for me in the past.
That’s right. My usual pink Nike tank top (convenient with pockets in the back), my Garmin, and black long, tight shorts. What will be different: no hat… I’ll certainly tie my hair in my usual loop thing, and no compression socks (it might get a little too hot).
I have worn other tops for other distances, but I think I should go with that pink top for the full. It is what I’m familiar with and I loves the pockets.
What else has worked for my first full (which is still my PR, 3:40) and the 18-miler PR (2:23? or 2:22… something like that)?
DDUCK (Korean rice cake):
The one on top was extremely delicious.
The one on the bottom was extremely NOT good. I thought it would be worth trying… but I couldn’t even trick myself into saying it was good. Boo. Waste of 6 bucks.
But going back to the one on top… if you love Korean rice cake, jujubee, squash, beans, and chestnuts, go get some. You will love it.
So my outfit and major carbo-load snack are set. For my meal yesterday, Joe and I went to Dish’n’Dash:
That yellow rice you see peeking out from the bottom was so good! And the falafel balls were… usual. Nothing mind-blowing. Tabouli and grilled veggies were good, too. It was fun to eat all that with four different sauces, haha.
Here are some things that went differently a couple days before the race:
Joe and I went to get beer on Thursday night (Guinness is my favorite). It was to celebrate both of us finishing finals… but probably a little more the fact that he is graduating from Santa Clara Law today.
So freaking proud of my boyfriend. What a smart face 😛
And did you know they opened up a Paris Baguette in Cupertino area? It kind of worked out since I wanted more carb-y snacks (since that one rice cake thing did not work out).
So pretty inside. I love Paris Baguettes because they make it look insanely cute inside (just like all the cafes in Korea!).
So will wearing my “lucky” pink tank and eating my special rice cake help me PR tomorrow morning? I DUNNO. Sure hope things go well and I turn up smiling like crazy after crossing the finish.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends 😀
Do you have any routine/food/clothing that you MUST do/eat/wear for a big race?
Anyone running races this weekend?
