Summertime is when I drop pounds. Not only am I out and about because I love the sunshine, but I am usually on the trails getting crazy. I will emerge in the fall as a crazy fit beast (possible exaggeration. I become fitter).
I’ve been trying to get in a longish trail run at least once per week, after finishing the most recent marathon.
Luckily, I often get to run with some awesome peoples, as well as go have some alone time on the trails. Just me, the dirt trail, the sun, and the creepy crawlies.
This was from a run in Rancho San Antonio on Saturday:
There’s a lot of other cool pictures taken by Linh and Jesi in my previous post.
My theory for how I got a PR at last year’s (and the previous year’s) San Jose Rock’n’Roll Half Marathon is because I was doing a bunch of trail running. It’s still just a theory but we’ll see how the races go this fall 🙂
Going back to Saturday… after the 10+ mile trail run, I showered and zoomed off the church so some church peoples and I could head out to Carmel by the Sea for brunch! We ate at Carmel Belle and I decided to just order a salad because.. I love them. I actually ordered a different salad, but they brought out this one, and I am kind of glad that they made a mistake because this one was SO GOOD!
It had chicken, citrus fruit, pistachios, goat cheese, and lemon vinaigrette (I did not eat the olives for I do not care for them).
Then we did some walking around the little shops.
^(Inspired by all the prom pictures I’m seeing these days)
And then went to a beach. Unfortunately, it was REALLY windy!
So we went straight to Fisherman’s Wharf to do some walking.
And some standing around:
After that, we headed out once again to Cannery Row!
^Well, I guess that’s not really a great picture of Cannery Row, but whatevers.
We did a little walking to Vivolo’s Chowder House for an early dinner because we were HUNGRY (or at least I was, haha).
Though I was hungry, I stuck with the salad (super filling):
And while waiting, we did some doodling on the table covers:
^John decided to graffiti almost all of my doodles. It was a fun way to wait for the food to come out, haha.
Chimi and I took a PiYo class yesterday at 24 hour. It was just okay… I wouldn’t take it again. Or maybe if it was a different instructor? But tonight, we’re going to try the yoga class or Body Pump (I’ve taken one yoga class a couple years ago and enjoyed it. I’ve taken lots of Body Pump classes and definitely loved them). WOO HOO!
Today, I’m going trail running in the morning, then getting my hair trimmed. Or maybe cut shorter. We’ll see what happens!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Do you only train on pavement or do you switch it up with trails/treadmill/track?
What is your best race memory?
