Healing

Herro there!

Yesterday, I finally got to go running. Oh, wait. I went on Monday night after my final was done. I went to the gym and achieved a stairclimber PR. 60 freaking minutes. It was crazy and I was sweating buckets. Then I did an easy treadmill run of 30 minutes, 3.5 miles, going from 0.5% to 2%.

Yesterday’s run was my standard Los Gatos Creek Trail run in the evening. It was like high 70’s or low 80’s, so I wanted to take it easy for 8 to 10 miles. I decided to run around 8:45 per mile.

By the end of it, I had run 10.5 miles in 1:31. 8:41 pace per mile. Not bad. It just ended up making me tired and drained anyways because it was freaking hot.

After my run, I went to watch the guys play basketball. I love that Wednesday night routine! 🙂

Today, I arrived at Rancho San Antonio around 10:00 am. Already 70-something degrees. Pretty hot. I knew I was going to take it easy because I had run double digits the day before. Also, the effort just seems that much harder in the heat.

But something happened. I forgot my Garmin. Forgetting my Garmin Forerunner 405 makes me feel like I’m running naked. Okay, not really. I was wearing my sweet new outfit from Ellie.

Perhaps I should have put on some eyeliner so I don’t look so tired. Oh, well.

I ran a route that I ran with the Running Addicts a few weeks ago. I remember it was 5.5 miles to the top of PG&E. I did that route and then backtracked. I decided to hike a whole bunch because my legs were TIRED and I didn’t want to push myself too much.

Got back about 2 hours later, and I’m guessing it was 11 miles total. I’ll run the same route some time with the Garmin, just to see if I was right.

During this run, I had a chance to do a lot of thinking and praying. Something weird and scary has been happening in my family. My brother sprained his ankle. Then my other brother sprained his ankle. Then my mom slipped, fell weird and fractured her forearm. I keep reliving last night… hearing my mom crying out in pain like I’ve never heard before… 😦 😦 :(. I just held her until she felt okay enough to change out of her PJ’s. I helped her get dressed and she went to the ER.

I don’t know what this all means… but I prayed hard for healing over my family, and protection from whatever it is that is attacking us.

Much of Jesus’ ministry involved healing. In His name, we can also be used to heal others. I know it can happen, and I know it will happen. Even still, it just reminded me that these bodies of ours are temporary. We should do our best to keep our earthly bodies healthy and strong, but later on, we will all be in a place where no one will get sick or injured.

Please pray for healing for my brothers, and especially my mom. It really breaks my heart to see her arm in a sling 😦

  1. So sorry to hear about all of the injuries in your family. I will say a prayer for y’all also.

Cute running outfit!! I love that top. Also I forgot my GPS watch while running on Wednesday and it completely messed me up too. I can’t believe that, you know, people used to run like that all the time. It’s like traveling without a cell phone.

  2. Aww so sorry about your family! Just prayed for them. Jesus will heal them 🙂 I’ve sprained my ankle about oh, a million times, generally doing stupid things like walking down stairs. :/ Tell your brothers to make sure they put a lot of compression on their sprains! That’s what really helped me. When the sprain is healed, tell them to stretch the ankle and do strengthening exercises. Not only will this prevent future ankle sprains, but it will keep any Achilles tendon problems at bay too! You guys probably already know everything I just wrote but I wanted to remind you 🙂
