Yesterday, I went on a hike with Josh at Rancho!
I led him through new trails (ones that he hasn’t been on before). Taking him on trails he’s never taken means that he would have to trust that I won’t go on an insane hike that is incredibly steep and such. I decided on a trail that was not too steep… meaning it would take a bit longer to get to the end.
I also tried to go one trails with lots of shade because it was getting really hot!
We ended up hiking a total of 7.5 miles in 2:41:xx!
After the hike, Joe, Josh and I went to Dish Dash in Downtown Sunnyvale. I got a chicken shawarma salad. Soooooo yummy!
After lunch, the three of us decided to go get Philz Coffee!
It was soooooo good!
Then we went to the movies because it was getting super hot and muggy. We decided on watching Man of Steel. All I’ll say is… I’m glad he’s pretty much an indestructible alien because I wouldn’t want anything to happen to his handsome face. HAHA.
[I did a Google search to find out more about that actor right after the movie. Never seen him before. This Superman guy is competing with Wolverine for my superhero affections. Well, my favorite is definitely Batman, but those other guys are just nice to watch.]
For dinner, Joe and I headed back to Downtown Sunnyvale to eat at Turmeric Indian Buffet!
First round had lots of veggies, fish curry, chicken curry thing, jackfruit curry, some kind of sprouts type thing, and two naan:
Second one still had a bunch of veggies, potato stuff, paneer?, more sprouts veggie thing, more fish curry, and a tomato thingy.
I also ate two of those fried ball things (the one in a bunch of syrup) with mango pudding.
For $12.95, we can’t get enough of this buffet!
This morning, I woke up early and headed out to Rancho San Antonio at 5:30 am. I wanted to make sure I was there early enough to miss the sun on the Chamise trail, as well as all of the heat that was going to start mid-morning.
The Chamise trail has no shade starting from around 9 or 10 something, so be sure to get there super early!
I didn’t really stop until I hit 6.7 miles (except to take some pictures):
And I finally got up to the place where the Black Mountain trail meets with the Quarry trail!
I apparently don’t know the settings on my camera well enough. Take one:
And take two:
Thunder thighs in extreme short shorts… I will only wear those when I’m running super early in the morning.
Anywho, some parts of the Quarry trail were a little scary because the sun was still hitting my face and some branches and twigs looked like possible snakes:
The Quarry Trail is super narrow in some places, as well as having some places that are super up and down. I was scared that if I tripped and hurt myself, no one would find me… but there were some other crazies out there on the trail super early in the morning.
It was a quiet run until I got to the top of the PG&E trail from the back:
There were a few groups up there, and there was a lot of chattering. It’s crazy how you can go from being alone on the trails to seeing like 20 people hanging out.
Love the High Meadow trail going back to the parking lot:
I added a bit more of a trail (instead of straight to the parking lot) to make a total of 14 miles in 2:41:xx.
It was an awesome trail run, and so much fun to run this new trail. I definitely still love trail running, folks. Can’t get over it. All that time on the dirt, time to admire God’s creation and praise Him for giving us this beautiful earth… it’s the BEST!
Going to a pre-retreat rally as a counselor. Woo hoo! The only thing is… it’s going to be mad hot, so I’ll mostly be out there slathering sunblock on all the students and telling them to make sure to hydrate, hehe.
Have a wonderful Saturday!
How early do you wake up to go on your weekend run?
