Three Days of Rest

Hello! I have been put on mandatory three-day rest. 

Not really. I’ll be going to a youth retreat as a counselor. We’re leaving right after church today and I can’t wait 😀

It will mean being pretty sleep-deprived and being in the sun for games and such… but also it means being revived and full of the Holy Spirit. Many people get to encounter God in a setting away from home and away from all of the distractions of this world (mainly… the INTERNET and our CELLULAR DEVICES).

I had big plans to get in a super long trail run and all that… but I decided to hang out with this girl instead:

^The Vanna bear got to hang out at the park while we watched Joe and the Salvation Army church practice volleyball. She got worn out by an energetic little boy who wanted to run around everywhere, hahaha. 

Today, we went for a long, slow walk. It has been a while since she has walked over 2.5 miles. By the end of our 3.75 mile walk (remember… I live where it’s super hilly), she was ready to go back to bed. 

And I did 30 minutes of a Barre 3 workout, and 15 more minutes of core work. 

By the way, while I’m gone, you should do some planks and push-ups.

In case you didn’t know what those were… And you have to go down way more for a real push-up. I’m allowed to not go all the way down because… I have not done pushups since May. In fact, I have been kind of neglecting my upper body! All of the definition is gone. Poop.

[Actually, I need to get back to doing core work regularly… my ab muscles are kind of not there anymore (usually, even with the fat, you can see some definition… but now, it’s not really there. DARNS)]

I think if I just add in some pushups with my core workouts, that will be better than nothing. 

Oh, and I have no idea if I can still do a pull-up… or even a chin-up! Too scurred to try because then I have to work back up from phase 1

I have a half marathon next week. Haven’t raced one in a while. I’m not going for a PR, but I want to get a decent time without falling apart. It should be fun 🙂

And so this is pretty much a taper week, since I won’t be doing any running until Thursday, and Friday will probably be a rest day.

    So I accepted Jesus Christ when I was 14, and since then (and especially recently) God has really helped me get closer to Him, and a desire to keep having a close relationship with Him. I always hear people say “focus on God,” but my question is, what exactly does that mean? I know we can focus on God by reading the Bible and praying, but obviously we don’t do that all day ;P So does it just mean focusing on what God has given us to focus on, and behaving the way he wants
    us to?

      For me, focusing on Him simply means taking the focus away from me and looking to Him. It’s a lot easier said than done because my instinct and reflex is simply to do what I want to do things and in my own time with my own strength. I also complain a lot when I’m not focused on Him, haha.
