Outdoor Yoga

I know I do yoga in consistently, but I seriously love it! It’s a great complement to running since it works on some upper body strength, the core, and flexibility.

Our deck is really big and spacious, and it all kind of belongs to our dog. Luckily, she sections off her pooping area (No Man’s Land), so there is a big space for me to set up a mat and do some yoga!

She’d come occasionally and lick me (especially when I was doing downward dog. I think she knew I couldn’t swat her away, so she’d go straight for my face).

She was pretty patient, waiting for me so we could play… and as soon as I was done with 48 minutes of YogaX, she got on the mat and got her revenge on it… by scooting her butt on it:

Funny dog. I knew I had to let her play and hang out on it so that she doesn’t get upset every time she’d see the yoga mat in the future:

[If you’re ever in the area and you’re interested in yoga-ing with me on our deck, please join me! You just have to be okay with doggie kisses, hehe]… [and I’m sorry if the yoga poses pictured are not perfect. I had to put on the timer, go to the mat, and get in position, haha].

Dude. I haven’t gotten the winter blues this season. I think it has to do with the fact that it reaches the 60’s pretty much every day. Then again, CA could use some rain… but in any case, I really love the sun ๐Ÿ™‚

The outdoor yoga was around noon, but earlier this morning, I went for a runย with a couple of the RunningAddicts:

Here’s Albert, me, and Linh. Thanks for this great picture Linh:

^That was after 7.6 miles. Most of the run was in the dark, which kind of shows how far I’ve come. Didn’t think I’d be waking up at 5:15am on certain mornings to go for a run in the dark. Who am I??

I got home and warmed up with a huge cup of kabocha squash and red bean soup (hobbak jook):

I never knew it would be such a lovely way to refuel and warm up after a run. I’ll have to ask my mama to make it more often ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, yeah. More notes about the run… it was so tiring and tough! I think it had to do with the fact that I did not eat an after-dinner snack (meal?). I had a relatively early dinner and then went to bed early. I didn’t have time to eat something before the run, so I just felt completely depleted during the whole run.

Hope the fueling was the only problem… because I start the Hansons Marathon Method training program tomorrow!!

I should also realize that this does not give me freedom to eat whatever the heck I want in whatever outrageous quantity I desire (even though I usually do during marathon training, haha). I still gotta get in my protein, veggies, and limit the desserts. Hope I can lock down the nutritional aspect of things this time around. Marathon #7… it’s going to be awesome.

Still a few more days to get your entries in for the Athleta/Gap/BR gift card giveaway! Be sure not to miss out on your chance to win ๐Ÿ™‚

Outdoor yoga. Ever tried it?

Are you a dog or a cat person? [I love both!]

When’s your next big race?

  1. I’m so jealous of your CA weather that lets you yoga outdoors this time of year! I love love love doing yoga outside but with 6 inches of snow it’s not a great option right now ๐Ÿ™‚
