Birthday-ing

I don’t turn 26 until the 29th, but I’ve still had a chance to celebrate in several different ways.

There’s that time I ran a marathon around the beginning of the month (turn 26 years old= run 26.2 miles). I did it early so I could taper from it and then start my marathon training.

Then I went out with Cindy and Susan for some tea at Peet’s. We got to catch up and have some good laughs. I love these sisters of mine 🙂

Yesterday, I went out to Buca di Beppo with my family:

We had so much food and it was followed up with Philz Coffee and chillin’. Needed to work up the appetite to go to Dish Dash with the church peoples!

I ordered the Beriani Dajaj (chicken dish with rice and aged yogurt sauce, raisins, potatoes, garbanzo beans, almonds… it was fantastical!):

After I ate most of the dish, it got boxed up, and we moved on to dessert!

This is the sweet potato green tea cake from Paris Baguette.

Most people did not really like the sweet potato layer… which was great because I liked it. I think I ate half of the cake’s filling, hehe.

We took some more group photos outside. Here is me and the brothers:

We said by to a few people, and the rest of us headed over to Tammy’s for some snacks, drinks, and talking. It was seriously so much fun to do this, and I had the giggles from the red wine, haha.

On a day like this, I hope everyone can just appreciate being in the moment. I used to be someone who would stress about eating this and not eating that and I shouldn’t be eating this… BOOOO~ That’s no way to live. That’s how you keep yourself imprisoned, mang. Don’t stay there… find freedom from all of that.

I got to indulge without judging myself. I got to go off my little plan for a day and not care. Hope and pray that you can also give yourself this gift of freedom from time to time.

I thank God for being my Healer. I am a new creation in Him. Also, I’m so incredibly thankful for all the wonderful people in my life! You guys have made my birthday celebration so amazing 🙂

When is your birthday?

      • The first part was kind of hilly – not killer, but you definitely notice. The rest wasn’t too bad. I just kept thinking of the Hansons saying that it’s supposed to simulate the last 16 of the marathon, not the first. It capped of my biggest mileage week ever as well. I feel surprising OK today, though 🙂
