Fun Summer Activities

Two things that I am looking forward to for this summer… hiking and swimming!

This afternoon, I met up with two beautiful girls for a hike at Rancho San Antonio (Sarah and Susan):

If you can’t tell, it was extremely hot and sunny out, but we were sure to put on a bunch of sunblock and bring lots of water.

It was so great to open up and share stories with each other during the hike (as well as take a butt-load of pictures, hehe):

We went up along the PG&E Trail, which follows along the power lines up the mountain:

This trail is nice because it is not all in the open. There are segments with a good amount of shade and a cool breeze.

We made it up three miles before it was time to turn around (considering time constraints… plus I was mad hungry and I didn’t know it, haha).

6.0 miles total, with a strong running finish at the end 😉

We ate a late lunch at Freebirds:

We it was SO fun to have hike with these girls.

We’re already planning on making the Friday hike a regular thing. I love hiking in the summer, and hope to get them to transition little by little to trail running, too (shhh, don’t tell them, HEHEHE).

Like I mentioned, I hope to do some open water swimming soon.

This pretty much makes it official:

My wetsuit has arrived.

Nervous, but super excited to get into the open water for a swim. I still need to build my confidence in the pool though. It’s going to be a fun summer 🙂

What are your favorite summer-time activities? [I always get into trail running during the summer].

What do you prefer: hats or sunglasses?

  1. Ahhhh YAYYY for the wetsuit/swimming! I can see you doing an Ironman in the near future 😉 I actually “like” sunglasses and a hat (by “like” I mean that’s what I prefer to wear ha). The hat to keep the sun off of my face and the sunglasses to protect my eyes from the UV rays. Do I look like a total dork? Yes 😉

  2. Yay for open water swimming! I’m still a super newbie myself, but you’re going to be amazed at how buoyant the wetsuit makes you. It essentially ensures you won’t drown, which is reassuring for a panicky swimmer like myself :). Enjoy!

  3. I tried to comment before, but I think I failed :). Anyway, yay for open-water swimming! I’m still a super newbie myself, but I have the same wetsuit as you, and I think you’ll love how buoyant it makes you! It essentially ensures that you can’t drown, which is good for a panicky swimmer like myself :-P. Enjoy!!
