Mammoth Lakes Trip

Oh, man! It has been so long since I blogged! School is going well (I’ve finally become accustomed to the workload and can get everything done without complaining all the time, haha). Work is going well, too :).

Over this passed weekend, our young adult group (along with a few other friends) went out to Mammoth Lakes to hike, fish, and hang out!

During our first hike, we got to see the Devil’s Postpile:

Here’s the view from the bottom:

How cool and interesting is that?!? So weird how that just naturally formed o__O.

Then we drove down a bit more and hiked down to Rainbow Falls:

As you can tell, the drought kind of affected how big the fall is… but it’s still quite pretty:

In total, we hiked about 4.75 miles. Man, it is crazy how much more difficult it is to simply climb the stairs or walk uphill when we are about 7500 feet above sea level!

On Sunday morning, I went on a sunrise walk with these two lovely girls:

They were actually planning on chillin’ on the boat, but I coaxed them into walking on the cool bike path.

^I mean, c’mon. You really can’t beat that view!

They did all walking, and I did some running out and back. Holy crap… the uphill running was SO difficult! It was kind of fun struggling to keep a 9:30 pace, haha.

After the walking/run on the bike path, we went out to Lake Mary where Joe and friends were doing some fishing:

^You can see in the above picture that there is a pontoon out there. They came to pick us up and we got on. Turns out that after about an hour, they caught nothing. I told them, “Don’t worry. I’m good luck. Someone is going to catch one.”

And then shortly after, Joe caught one!

AHHHH poor fish. Sorry, I just can’t find fishing or hunting to be recreational or leisurely… but I’m happy the people who were fishing had a good time.

We later picked everyone up and hung out on the pontoon during the afternoon:

The drive back was pretty long as we drove through Yosemite… but at least we got to see some of the colossal mountains!

I didn’t get to sleep much on Sunday night because I had to catch up on readings, but I slept about ten hours on Monday night, hahaha.

Fishing: yay or nay? [No judgment if you like it! It’s just not for me :P]

Where was the last place you went hiking?

Longest time you spent on the road in a day? [We drove from the Southbay to Las Vegas, which took about 9.5 hours. That was a tough road trip].

Ever done a race/gone running at very high elevation?
