Recap of this super memorable weekend!
My youth kids and I had so much fun playing Telephone charades! Then we had a discussion about what the difference between grace and mercy is. And then I got out my camera and challenged them to give me an awesome group jumping photo:
And then some weird stuff started happening…
Needless to say, we have a whole lot of fun on Friday nights :). I love being a youth director to these wonderful people!
Early on Saturday morning, I met up with more awesome RunningAddicts folks for a long run!
My left hip was still a bit tight so I took it super easy the whole time. I actually hadn’t run for several days by that point, so I was scared my running fitness also went out the window!
Oh, well. I just decided to smile and enjoy the run:
Got 14.20 miles out of it, so I’ll take it! CIM is coming up in less than 2 weeks, and I think it’s going to be one of those “I won’t PR but I’ll try the best I can do” type races.
Couldn’t have (and wouldn’t have) done this run without my RunningAddicts group, so I’m glad they were there with me!
Saturday evening, there was a surprise birthday party for our friend who was turning the big 3-0
^Guess who took a whole 15 minutes to make those numbers!? ME. I had napped too long… originally, I wanted the big 3-0 to be like.. as tall as him, hahaha.
Anyways, to celebrate, we went to Real Escape in San Jose. It is a game room where you basically have to find clues, solve puzzles, find a key that will finally let you unlock the room and escape. Yes, you are actually trapped in the room for an hour.
I won’t spoil it by telling you anything more than what we were told in the room when we were told the rules… you can take furniture apart (unless told not to be the “spirits”/workers), there are things hidden all over the room, and we should try to work as a team to put all of the clues together/solve puzzles together.
The hour went by really quickly, and we did NOT escape!
[BTW, we were the 97th team to try it. Only three teams of those 97 have actually escaped!]
But we had a lot of fun anyways. It was quite honestly the most interesting game I’ve played.
It is fun to do in a big group and there are different Real Escape game rooms in San Francisco. Glad we got to do it!
Sunday was Thanksgiving Sunday! We had a wonderful praise set (got to even sing in Spanish!):
And there were several families that got baptized and confirmed! It was such a wonderful and joyous celebration!
^These are my brothers and sisters. Our congregation has grown in such an unexpected way that we know it must be through God working in us.
Before partaking in a huge Thanksgiving feast, I took a picture with these beautiful younger sisters of mine (I mentioned once on Friday that they should try to dress a little nicer and BOOM, almost all of the girls came in skirts!):
I have the whole week off (Thanksgiving break, woo hoo!!). I was planning to do a good amount of running during this break but I don’t think the hip will let me! Oh, well 🙂
I will be doing the Run Turkey Run 10K this Thursday!
Anyone heard of the Real Escape game room? Ever tried it? Did you escape??
Do you have plans for a race on Thanksgiving morning?
Favorite Thanksgiving side dish? (On Sunday, I had some candied yams with walnuts and cranberries that were off the hook, haha)
